Kira Harris Director & Morning Teacher
Kira has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Boston University with graduate degree work in counseling and Early Childhood Education.  She is certified to teach elementary and early education and has 26 years of experience teaching preschool and kindergarten. Kira grew up in New England and lived in South Carolina, Portland, Oregon and Olympia, Washington before moving to Vermont. This will be Kira’s twelfth year at Spring Hill School. She enjoys gardening, hunting for wild mushrooms, hiking, canoeing, cooking, reading, travelling, snowboarding and she keeps warm by knitting in the winter.  Kira and her sweetheart, Brian, live in their 226 year-old home in Waitsfield.

Laura Mongeon- Assistant Director & Morning/Afternoon Teacher
Laura received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Colby-Sawyer College (2001) and is certified to teach early childhood education.  Laura has a special interest in books and literacy and is the school’s librarian. This year is Laura’s twelfth year teaching at Spring Hill School! Laura and her family enjoy playing, dance parties, reading, and walking on various paths in the valley. Laura’s daughters, Ada and Olivia, attend Fayston Elementary School. Laura continues to implement inspirations (light and shadow exploration) from the study tour she attended in Reggio Emilia, Italy in May 2014.

Kate Butler - Morning/AfternoonTeacher
Kate graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont, with a major concentration in Art and Spanish.  Kate is certified to teach Elementary and Early Childhood Education. After college she student taught in a kindergarten classroom, was an EA for children with special needs, ran an after school program, worked as a long-term sub for a music teacher and worked as an after-school teacher.  She has been teaching at Spring Hill School for the last 14 years. She spends her time with her 4 children and husband, various pets, family and friends.  Kate loves traveling, wandering in the woods, enjoying live music and making handmade items of all sorts.

Bejay Wilkinson - Afternoon Teacher
Bejay has over 40 years of experience working with young children and has been employed at SHS as an afternoon teacher since 1996. Some hobbies Bejay enjoys are: gardening, listening to a variety of music, drumming, belly dancing, birding, photography, cloud watching, sunsets, collecting heart shaped rocks and many more fun filled things. Bejay has an endless love and respect for the natural world and enjoys teaching children ways to explore and respect the outside world and critters around them. She has loved Vermont winters since she moved here in 1979 from California. Bejay resides in Waitsfield village with her son John, three kitties, two zebra finches (tiny birds), and one very social painted turtle.

Anna Church - Afternoon Teacher
Anna graduated from Harwood Union High School in 2011 and attended Middlebury College.  She began her relationship with Spring Hill School as a preschooler while attending camps in the summer.  She later became a junior counselor and is delighted to join the school’s team of teachers this year.  Anna loves to be in nature, whether hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing, maple sugaring, looking under rocks, or gardening.  She knits, whittles, dances, and bakes. Anna is also an avid artist and appreciates alliteration.
